The MesoReptilia Museum
Project Overview
This project marked the beginning of my exploration into brand identity design. Starting with a museum concept, I developed a strategic brief, identified key brand associations, and created a cohesive visual identity grounded in meaning and intention. The overall development of this project was under the supervision of Sooyun Im.
Challenge
The challenge of this project was to develop a museum concept that had never been seen or done before. We also had to ensure that every element—from the concept to the visual identity—felt cohesive and aligned throughout the entire brand development process.
Solution
I created a unique, fictional museum called Mesoreptilia—a name inspired by Mesozoic (the era when dinosaurs roamed) and Reptilia (their biological class). The concept imagines a secluded island museum where real, living dinosaurs are on display, inspired by the world-building of Jurassic Park. I designed a logo and pattern system that connects to the idea of an island, incorporating a stylized dinosaur vertebrae to reinforce the brand’s scientific and prehistoric foundation. To bring the touchpoints to life, I visited the Natural History Museum in LA to capture original photos and videos used throughout the branding.
